Future World, EPCOT

HORIZONS

OCTOBER 1, 1983
-
JANUARY 9, 1999

Horizons was a theme park attraction at Walt Disney World's EPCOT in Orlando, Florida. It opened on October 1, 1983 (a year after the rest of the park opened) and was situated in EPCOT's "Future World" area, among other attractions such as Spaceship Earth, World of Motion and Universe of Energy. More than any of the Future World pavilions, it was specifically about the future and the future of the family.

Horizons was "dedicated to humanity's future. It is a careful synthesis of all the wonders within Epcot, and applies the elements of communication, energy, transportation, creativity, and technology to a better life-style for the family of the future." It closed to the public on 9th January 1999 and was demolished in spring 2000.

The Horizons1 website is an appreciative memory bank of the Horizons pavilion
with audio and video.

Over 3,300 Gb of Horizons memories downloaded every year!
